I am holding a Mutual Fund or ETF that I really like, can I hold on to it?

We do not allow clients to lock any of their ETF or Mutual Fund positions. If you are holding onto an ETF or Mutual Fund that has a high expense ratio, is active, or represents an asset class we do not invest in, we will sell it as part of your initial rebalance.

However, if the ETF or Mutual Fund you are holding is an index fund, with a low expense ratio, and fits into one of our 12 asset classes, we will likely hold it so we can keep your trading commissions and portfolio churn low.

If you need to lock an Individual stock you can find instructions for how to do so here
